The Challenge
Project Godfather is a Manchester-based restaurant fit-out delivered within a highly constrained city centre environment, requiring a fully coordinated mechanical and lighting installation to support a premium, design-led hospitality concept.
The challenge centred on delivering both mechanical services and a high-specification lighting scheme within a tight programme and restricted site conditions typical of central Manchester refurbishments. Limited access, constrained ceiling voids, and close coordination with multiple trades meant that careful planning and sequencing were essential from the outset. The lighting installation needed to achieve a strong visual impact while remaining flexible to support different dining atmospheres, all within a carefully controlled architectural setting. At the same time, the mechanical works had to integrate ventilation, heating, and domestic services into an existing structure with limited plant space and complex service routes. Particular challenges included achieving effective kitchen extract performance alongside comfortable dining area conditions, while maintaining the design intent of the space. Coordinating both mechanical and lighting installations within a live, fast-moving fit-out environment required detailed design development, precise coordination, and close collaboration across all site teams to ensure successful delivery.
Our Solution
For Project Godfather, Hensall delivered a fully coordinated mechanical and lighting fit-out within a constrained city centre programme. The mechanical package included ventilation, heating, domestic services, and high-performance kitchen extract systems, all carefully integrated within limited plant space and existing building constraints. Alongside this, a bespoke lighting scheme was installed featuring feature and ambient lighting with full dimming control to create flexible dining atmospheres. Through close coordination with other trades and careful sequencing, Hensall successfully delivered a high-quality, design-led restaurant environment on programme.
